[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The strong mid-day sun outside was just as intense as the expectation in the eyes of the little girls inside – each one trying out their first dance moves. The students raging between 3 and 15 are a part of our Timothy Project at the church in the Sertão, in the city of Acauã – Piauí. This is a fruit of the partnership between Iris Global and MORE that have been working together in the region since January,2015.

Maria Joana is only four but she was one of the first to arrive. Her mother, Zefinha (29 years old), tells us that her daughter is one of the first to get to class because she is always so anxious for what she is going to learn. -“When it’s almost time she can’t even sit down, she just wants to leave the house to get here already”. The classes happen on Fridays, one class is in the morning with the older girls and another three classes in the afternoon with the younger girls.

About 50 girls are participating in the project and learning their first steps in ballet and some other rhythms. They also learn some coreographies that are present at the church during festivities. These children have been discovering that being at the house of God can be a place for learning, happiness and having fun no matter what day of the week.
